How to Read Your Own Saju Reading, Step by Step

A full Saju reading can feel like a lot at once: a table of Chinese characters, a fortune, a life curve, element bars and several long sections of text. This guide walks through a Cosmic Saju reading in the order we recommend reading it, so each part builds on the last.

Step 1: Find your Day Master

Start with the Four Pillars table at the top of your reading. The pillar labeled Day, marked as you, holds your Day Master in its top row. The badge under your name repeats it in words, for example "Yin Water Day Master." Read the Core Essence section next: it is written for your Day Master and sets the tone for everything else.

Step 2: Look at the element balance

Scroll to the Five Elements Balance. The bars count the elements in your pillars. Note which element is strongest and whether any are missing, then read the paragraphs underneath, which explain what that pattern tends to mean. If your strongest element matches your Day Master's element, you probably have a strong Day Master; if your chart is dominated by other elements, a gentle one.

Step 3: Read the life areas

The Love, Wealth and Career, Health and Life Path sections translate your Day Master into specific parts of life. Read them as tendencies, not instructions. A useful exercise is to note one sentence in each section that feels accurate and one that does not; the ones that miss are often the areas where your other pillars or your current decade are pulling in a different direction.

Step 4: Follow your Great Luck curve

The 100-Year Life Curve shows your Great Luck Cycles as rising and easing tides. Choose the option that matches how your birth was recorded, since it sets the direction of the decades, then look at three things: which decade you are in now, where your golden decade falls and whether the next decade rises or eases. The table view lists every decade with its pillar and theme if you prefer numbers to curves.

Step 5: Use the fortune boosters

Lucky Charms and Fortune Boosters suggest colors, objects, directions, foods and small rituals linked to your favorable element. Pick one or two that you genuinely enjoy. The point is not superstition but attention: a small daily reminder of the quality your chart asks you to cultivate.

Step 6: Compare East and West

The Cosmic Synthesis section puts your Saju chart next to your Western sun sign and your zodiac animal. When they agree, it is a strong theme in your personality. When they disagree, ask whether one describes how you appear to others and the other how you feel inside. That contrast is often the most recognizable part of a reading.

Common questions

I don't know my birth time. You can still get a meaningful reading. Your Day Master does not depend on the hour, and the reading uses the other six characters. Leave the time blank rather than guessing, since a wrong hour adds two wrong characters.

I was born near February 4. Saju years start at Ipchun, around February 4, so your year pillar and zodiac animal may differ from the Lunar New Year animal you grew up with. If you were born within a day of the solar term, check a professional calculator to confirm which side of the boundary you fall on.

Should I use local time where I was born? Yes. Enter the date and clock time at your place of birth. Cosmic Saju does not correct for longitude or historical daylight saving time, so births very close to an hour boundary may fall into a neighboring hour.
